California Man Pleads Not Guilty in Alleged Trump Assassination Plot

The 31-year-old citizen of California, Cole Tomas Allen, entered the courtroom pleading not guilty to the charges filed against him over trying to assassinate the sitting president, Mr. Donald Trump, during a gathering at the White House Correspondents' Association. According to the case brought forth by the authorities, Allen, who came to Washington DC all the way from Los Angeles, attempted to forcefully gain access to the security checkpoint using a shotgun. Allen allegedly shot at a Secret Service agent, but his life was spared as he was wearing a bulletproof vest.

Allen’s legal team has been making attempts to have the high-ranking prosecutors, such as Attorney General Todd Blanche and DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro, disqualified because of the "victim" statements made in the public domain about the attack. Despite these requests, the prosecution is putting forward evidence against Allen, such as photographs of him posing with firearms in his hotel room just before committing the assault. By June 22, the Justice Department is expected to address the defense’s motions.
